Post Shay Rotogardener 80
I have an old JAP engined Shay Rotogardener 80 which has been dry-stored for the past 40 years or so. I'd like to get this machine running again. I believe the machine to be complete apart from a broken recoil starter which I need to find a replacement for (any suggestions of where I might try to find one would be most welcome!).

My question here is does anyone have an owner's manual for this machine please?

If it is new parts that you require to make good the recoil then I wonder if http://www.meetens.co.uk/products/jap_engines.html can help. They do tend to be exceedingly knowledgeable on their subject. I have bought Villiers and MAG spares from them in the past.

I also wonder if a posting on http://www.tractorbox.co.uk/forum/default.asp the forum of the Vintage Horticultural & Garden Machinery Club may help. I often see much helpful documentation being talked of there. :)

Thank you for your suggestions. I'll follow-up both.
