 Ready for Xmas??
Just can't get myself into the seasonal mood - only just done half my cards and managed to wrap a few pressies. I have warned everyone it is likely to be a post Xmas suprise as can't motivate myself. Have ordered the turkey but haven't got any of the trimmings so will be running around like a loonie on Saturday. Certainly won't be in the mood on Sunday after fighting off the crowds who think the shops will be closed for weeks. Maybe another bottle of wine on the list will do the trick - see so bah humbug haven't even organised that! Obviously the work / life balance is out of kilter. Westi

 Re: Ready for Xmas??
I can't get into the Christmas spirit either, been so busy selling my motorbikes to fund a building project in Wisbech, i never seem to have a minute to myself. Nearly there now though, just need the planning to be approved and i'll be a happy man. Oh yes, and the paper work for planning has really tested my patience, surveys for this, surveys for that, and me hating paperwork..... Right, that's got that of my chest, now i can get into the spirit and also spend a little more time on our lovely forum.

 Re: Ready for Xmas??
I tend to leave most of it til the last day or so, it at least then makes it a bit more exciting at least, but to be honest I could pass on the whole thing KGAdmin

 Re: Ready for Xmas??
I'm not a Christmas fan either - not a Scrooge just the fact that lots of bad things have seemed to happen to our family over the Christmas period - I'm always glad to get to the other side.

 Re: Ready for Xmas??
Another one here who can't seem to get into the Christmas spirit this year because too many unpleasant things seem to be happening to people we know. Plus, because of the economic situation, all the retailers seem to be plugging the commercial side of Christmas more strongly than ever, which I find extremely offputting.
The very mild weather we're currently having doesn't seem very seasonal either. I don't really wish for snow because that could disrupt peoples' Christmas travel plans as it did last year but today has been more like Spring here and we've even had the central heating switched off most of the day.

 Re: Ready for Xmas??
My Facebook news feed is full of messages between some of the rugby boys whose team I managed last year and their friends, all about a seventeen year old female friend of theirs who was killed in a car crash last night. Kind of puts a different perspective on things...

 Re: Ready for Xmas??
Just finished all the shopping for food, booze, presents. That is it. No more. All my meals planned and bought and after tomorrow, cooked and frozen. Lots of walking planned for the break, weather or no weather, I am not a christmassy person. Glad to get the other side of the New Year then we can start planning what to plant in the garden, booking our holidays and losing weight gained because I can't say no to crisps and cheese (dont have a sweet tooth at all). But waft a piece of cheese in my direction and I lose all control...... That said may I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year good planting and picking for next year may it be the best year for everyone. xxxxx Peter I am sorry to hear about the 17 year old, very sad and it certainly does put things in to perspective.

 Re: Ready for Xmas??
Have a peaceful Christmas everyone and I hope you can spend it the way you wish to do! My OH and I have bought ourselves books and magazines (we don't have a telly) and will stay holed up wit them and some good music over the festive days.
Last Sunday we saw all the family and distributed the cards and prezzies for the younger ones. Next week's weather looks quite promising, so I might just get the compost heap spread!

 Re: Ready for Xmas??
If I haven't bought it all today then it's not getting bought! I've been grumpy for weeks, but now I've done all I'm going to do I'm just beginning to feel a teeny bit 'Christmasy'.All the very best to everyone whether you like it or not! Jude.
