I've started to feel guilty when I pee at work and have to flush it away! I hear anyone else going to the loo and think "what a waste". Should I be worried?

Apparently the Romans used urine as a tooth whitener and mouthwash; Eskimos create steam baths by peeing on hot stones in enclosed tents; European bakers used urine instead of yeast and cheesemakers in Germany and Switzerland used to add it to their prized cheese.

There's lots more; watering my allotment with it seems pretty tame really.

I reckon Chantal and Vivvie may end up on it one day, clutching their bottles of liqued gold as they try through the fog of advancing senility to remember the reason they bottled the damm stuff.

Just hope they use a whiskey bottle and leave it on the bus.

Don't start me off, I'm in enough trouble at home already quite apart from having a gallon of pee in the bathroom. My partner Tim was cooking dinner a week or so ago when I was out. He rummaged around the cupboard looking for whisky for some sauce or other, found an old bottle and used some. He commented that the sauce tasted a bit funny and it turned out he'd used some old wine made by my neighbour in 1986. He said I should have taken the label off and has now threatened to put white spirit in my peppermint cordial! What he'd say if I started keeping bottles of pee in the cupboard... thinking about it, I do have a urine sample from my cat Rosie in the fridge, thinly disguised as a tub of mozarella. Tim has been warned and it is labelled but it's a disaster in waiting.

I should be careful Paul, "googling for urine" sounds very illegal.

I always use my urine fresh and I must admit that 90% of it ends up in the toilet and gets flushed away. So I don't have bottles hanging around.

However, if I ever manage to build a house from scratch, I will certainly getting those loos that separate solids from liquids and both fractions will be used in different compose heaps......NO more sewage bills!

The field shed does have a handy bucket for female use, so that it can be thrown on the compost heap.

I'm only bottling in the winter and depositing every few days. In the summer I intend to irrigate the plot on a daily basis so the bottles won't be hanging around too long. Sadly I rarely use the bus so the opportunity to leave a bottle of "whisky" on the number 68 is unlikely to arise. I'm also using the empty cat litter container (large and plastic) so Tim will never feel the urge to drink or cook with it! He was banging on about not eating veg last night until I pointed out that he drank water and that's been through half a dozen people before it gets to him. Things have gone quiet now.

I have a friend who told me that when he was a baby, his mother used to wipe his face with his wet nappy. At the time I was horrified when he came out with this snippet of info - but reading these posts I can see that maybe his mum knew a thing or two

did you say urine was acidic, if it is I can waz all over my Blueberries rather than watering on sulphate of iron twice a year, and with 10 bushes to aim at I will never get bored.
