In an article in the current KG about damping off of seedlings, there is no mention of potassium permanganate which I have used for this purpose for years. It isn't often needed, but useful to have around - or is it now illegal?

Re: Why no potassium permanganate?
I've heard of it being used as a cheap mahogany dye and a cure for athletes foot. But never to stop damping off. I'll remember that. Cheers, Tony.
It's also useful as a mild disinfectant in water butts although it does make the water a funny colour. I believe it is used as a drinking water sterilizer so should be available to buy.
