I've always found that the best way is to follow the BBC forecasts, online, teletext and TV, and if the temperature in town centres is given as less than 5/4C at least a ground frost is likely.

Thank you for this thread.. read the skies last night and although there was no frost forecast, covered everything. White with frost this morning.. Not planting any more out yet.
