Young Gardeners: Growing gardeners of the future Gallery - February 2012 Gallery
Follow progress as the children of the John Whitgift Academy in Grimsby North East Lincolnshire and their mentor John Cavill embark on another exciting year in their veg garden.
The school gardeners have taken over this little used polytunnel on the school grounds and will be filling it with delicious crops this year.
Some of the timber is wet so John Cavill does the sawing. The children say this is a rare picture of John actually doing some hard work!
Liam, Sam and Hayden reconstruct the recycled greenhouse as a lean-to.
Okay we know these runners shouldn’t have grown through the winter, but inside our inflatable greenhouse anything is possible!
Sam and friends do a great job of cleaning out the ‘new’ polytunnel.
Molly sorts through all the marigold seeds saved from last year.
