Can't believe the weather this month – driving home from work last night it was 10.5C on November 22!Reconciling the seasons by Naomi Slade

It is a bit bad to be thinking ahead to winter – even though the press releases for Christmas presents have been arriving for a month now and I am just working up to writing my December copy for Kitchen garden.Potatoes in pots - is it just hype? by Helen Gazeley

Some activities are just plain bizarre. And growing potatoes in pots, when you have a perfectly good vegetable patch, seems like one of them. Especially as they have less space to grow and need more watering.Purple potatoes and paint pot primroses by Helen Babbs

The roof garden is currently bejeweled with flowers and looks very pretty. Tiny sapphire blue nigella flowers, caged within spiky green tendrils, are blooming in a shallow tray of dirt. As that Hannibal Smith off the A-Team would say, I love it when a plan comes together. But more than that I love it when my crystal ball is proves to be right.Veg takes gold every time by Steve Ott
