Celebrity line up at first Gloucester Quays Garden Party
By: Steve Ott
Gloucester Quays has confirmed it has secured three Celebrity Gardeners for its first ever Garden Party Festival taking place over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend (Saturday 7th, Sunday 8th and Easter Monday 9th April 2012).
Meet the stars at the first ever Gloucester Keys Garden Party 7-9 April 2012
The festival is FREE and visitors can make their way to the special Potting Shed stage to hear ‘People’s Gardener’ David Domoney on Saturday; Irish charmer Diarmuid Gavin on Sunday; and BBC Gardeners World favourite Carol Klein on the Monday.
David Domoney is no stranger to celebrity – during his three years on This Morning he gave tips to Brian Ferry on Bonsai, Jerry Hall and Dawn French on pumpkins for Halloween, advised Christian Slater on his water butt, Anthony Worrall Thompson on topiary, Jo Wood on ‘acoustic’ plants. Whilst on ITV’s Better Homes he advised Carol Vorderman on roof gardens. At Hampton court, he advised Sir Cliff Richard on his lawns. Amongst others he has landscaped gardens for Philip Schofield at his home in 2010 and England striker Michael Owen for his ‘Hello’ magazine wedding shoot.
David can be seen as one of the expert gardeners on ITV1's The Alan Titchmarsh Show and he will be back later in the year presenting the makeover show Garden ER on Channel 5.
Diarmuid Gavin is one of the mavericks of the world of garden design. His innovative work helped to make "Home Front in the Garden" one of television's most watched gardening programmes. His work has earned him several awards including the RDS Gold Award and a Bronze Medal at the Chelsea Flower Show, and he’s currently gardening columnist for the Daily Mirror.
Carol Klein is one of the most familiar gardening experts working in the media today, most famous for her role as regular presenter of Gardener's World. Her natural, down-to-earth approach has made her popular and trusted figure. As well as covering all the wonderful shows from Chelsea and Tatton to Hampton Court, Carol has fronted many series including Grow Your Own Veg and Open Gardens.
The Gloucester Quays Garden Party has three key themes of Fashion, Flowers and Food and will be host to over 80 market stalls selling vintage clothing, jewellery and accessories; garden specialists with bespoke furniture, garden ornaments, equipment as well as seeds, plants and flowers; and finally food and drink to buy and 'to go' with local producers and farmers showcasing their specialities.
Two fashion shows are also being planned each day and will feature the latest festival fashions as well as outfits for everything from dressing up for a Garden Party and a Day at the Races to gardening in style.
Alison Tennant, Gloucester Quays Marketing Manager confirms: “It’s going to be a great weekend for all the family and we’re sure that the adults will go away with some great gardening and fashion tips as well as bargains, while the kids will be entertained with free activities including easter egg painting and easter bonnet making."
