Barnsdale wins gold at Gardeners’ World Live!

Nick Hamilton and the Barnsdale Gardens team have scooped a gold medal at Gardeners’ World Live in this landmark year, with 2017 being the 50th anniversary of the BBC’s flagship gardening programme and 25 years since the launch of its magazine.

Barnsdale’s owner Nick Hamilton also heads the Cottage Garden society and his winning design used typically romantic, blowsy blooms planted in drifts around some of Barnsdale’s most iconic garden features, including a bronze bust of Barnsdale’s founder Geoff made by his youngest son Chris.

Nick said ‘My dad was Gardeners’ World’s longest serving presenter and some of our most popular gardens were originally designed for Gardeners’ World Live before being recreated at home in Rutland, so it’s great to have brought a bit of Barnsdale back here and to have been recognised in this special year’.
