This year’s Big Garden Birdwatch takes place on January 26, 27 and 28. You’re asked to spend one hour watching and recording the birds in your garden or local green space, and then to submit your results to help the RSPB compile its annual snapshot of how birds and other garden wildlife are faring. The Birdwatch started out as an activity for children on Blue Peter in 1979, and has grown to become the world’s largest garden wildlife survey. Last year, nearly half a million people took part.

Go to www.rspb.org.uk to get involved, order your free survey pack, and claim your discount at the RSPB shop.
