KG team get competitive - Kitchen Garden Magazine

The Kitchen Garden editorial team (The Three Mudketeers) are competing among themselves to grow the largest tomato and longest cucumber

Last year the Kitchen Garden editorial team headed by editor Steve Ott, deputy editor Emma Rawlings and technical writer Tony Flanagan (aka The Three Mudketeers) competed to grow the largest tomato. Steve won with his whopping fruit and the seed was sown for yet more rivalry this year so the team have chosen to grow giant tomato ‘Ovi’s Romanian’ (Sea Spring seeds www.seaspringseeds.co.uk) and the longest cucumber (variety ‘Telegraph’). The team are pictured with their plants ready to take them home and grow them on. We will keep you posted of their development and if you want to grow along with us and beat us with a bigger tomato or longer cucumber then do send in your pictures.

Steve Ott is editor of Kitchen Garden magazine and started his career as a professional grower, producing everything from cut flowers to vegetables. He has been growing fruit and veg all his life and spends most of his spare time in his garden in the East Midlands.
