Hail the kale
I sowed some ‘Nero di Toscana’ kale late last summer and planted about five tiny young plants in a large pot filled with multi-purpose compost. I placed the pot in a greenhouse overwinter and the plants sat and sat and sat and did nothing. They hardly grew. Suddenly, almost overnight, they are large enough to harvest some leaves from. It is really nice having something to harvest at this time of year.
