Blog reveals veggy goings on in Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex
If you could use some inspiration for the coming season, take a look at Real Men Sow, ‘a cheery allotment blog’ chronicling author Jono’s adventures in veg growing. “Taking on an allotment has actually been the best thing I’ve ever done,” he says. “A steady stream of incredibly tasty fruit and veg has been winging its way to my kitchen since Ron the allotment boss showed me around number 105 of the Burnham-on-Crouch plots. I’ve found that there’s something joyful about allotments, growing your own food, and living within the seasons. Hopefully I can capture some of that feeling in this blog.”
He does – and there’s lots of information and advice as well. Recent posts include ‘5 ‘Fun’ Vegetables to Grow in the Garden’, ‘7 Tips for Tidying Up the Greenhouse’ and ‘Mibuna, Mizuna and Other Winter Salads’. There’s also a downloadable Grow Your Own Savings Spreadsheet template, which you can use to work out how much your crops are saving you. Start reading at http://www.realmensow.co.uk/
