RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show to showcase home-grown produce with The Raymond Blanc Gardening School

The world’s largest annual flower show, RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show supported by Viking Cruises, will boast a festival of food and flowers from July 2-8 with gardens to highlight simple and easy ways to grow fresh food at home.

The RHS is joining forces with one of the UK’s best-loved chefs and champion of home-grown produce, Raymond Blanc OBE, to bring his famous gardening school from Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons to the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. The garden will be packed with ‘grow your own’ inspiration and ideas to encourage people of all ages to get growing, no matter how big their outside space.

Designed by Allister Dempster and Rossana Porta, ‘RHS Grow your Own with The Raymond Blanc Gardening School’ will feature simple, fun growing techniques such as upcycled containers and vertical gardening. An outdoor classroom and cooking area will also provide space for demonstrations focusing on seasonal ingredients that can be grown in the garden with hands on activities to encourage the next generation of gardening chefs.

On teaming up at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2018, Raymond Blanc says: “It is always an honour to work with the RHS and over the years we have worked closely on many exciting opportunities. For me, creating a kitchen garden with the team has been wonderful and a chance to showcase such fantastic varieties and hopefully capture people’s imaginations.”

Highlighting the benefits of community gardening alongside edible growing, award-winning designer Jon Wheatley will be introducing the show’s first ‘RHS Growing Community Garden’. With plenty of creative growing ideas, the space will include edibles, an urban forest, raised planters and a community meeting space – plus its very own wormery.
