RHS Photo Competition back for 2017

RHS Photo Competition back for 2017

After a two-year absence, the RHS Photographic Competition has been relaunched for 2017.

Open to both amateur and professional photographers, it attracts entries from all over the world. For the first time, entry is free, with the aim of encouraging even more people to take part.

Entries can be submitted in nine categories until February 28 2017. The categories are: Celebrating RHS Gardens, Welcoming Garden Wildlife, Pure Plants, Abstract and Detail, Greening Grey Britain, Social Media, Young Photographer (age 11–17), Children’s Photographer (under 11) and Portfolio (for professional photographers). Cash prizes will be awarded to first, second and third places in each category from an increased overall prize fund of £10,000.

The new Social Media category is open to any digital image submitted via RHS Twitter, Instagram or Facebook accounts using the RHSPhotoComp hashtag. The image can be anything horticulture– or gardening-related, and a monthly winner will be selected by the RHS’s social media followers to go forward to the final judging.
