All are varieties of capsicum that originally come from South America.The heat of peppers is measured in Scoville heat units (SHU) and ranges from mild peppers with a 500-2500 SHU, to hot peppers such as the ‘Scotch Bonnet’ with 100,000-350,000 SHU and the extremely hot types such as ‘Carolina Reaper’ with a massive 2.2million SHU.
