Starter’s orders on seed season

The first of the 2024 seed catalogues are out and, as ever, Thompson & Morgan leads the pack, with a range of irresistible new varieties alongside its many tried and tested favourites.

Highlights for the new season include new tomato ‘Heartbreakers Vita’, which boasts beautiful heart-shaped fruit. This productive little bush tomato, which reaches just 50cm (20in), produces masses of sweet, juicy fruits.

Chilli ‘Quick Fire’ is the fastest UK variety yet, maturing in as little as 65 days from sowing, and cropping for up to three months. Sweet pepper ‘Mamba Sweet’ forms attractive bushy plants, with unusual black peppers that ripen to bright red.

A sweeter-tasting cross between calabrese and stem broccoli, ‘Skytree’ has well-segmented heads that are ready to harvest within 65 to 75 days, while lettuce-leaved basil ‘Sally’ is a super-sized variety with softly crinkled purple leaves.

We have 15 Thompson & Morgan seed bundles, each worth £20, to give away.
